Want to know what to do in Ubatuba and create the perfect itinerary? With over 100 beaches, trails, waterfalls, and caiçara culture, Ubatuba is the ideal destination for couples, families, and adventurers. In this guide, you'll find suggested itineraries for 3, 5, and 7 days , with options that combine beaches, islands, and a truly unique experience.
The 3-day itinerary is ideal for those coming for a weekend, arriving on Friday and departing on Sunday. Our itinerary assumes you're staying in Praia Grande and is designed with that as your starting point—but with minor adaptations, it can work for any region. The other itineraries are extensions of the first—feel free to do it your way, of course. The important thing is that you get to know Ubatuba.
On cloudy or rainy days, you can always replace your day trips around Itaguá and its restaurants with visits to the Ubatuba Aquarium, Tamar Project, and the Airport Shopping Mall, especially if you're traveling with children.
3-day itinerary in Ubatuba
Day 1 – Praia Grande
Considering you'll be arriving from a trip and may only check into your hotel in the afternoon (usually after 2 p.m.), starting your trip at Praia Grande is the most convenient option. Praia Grande is ideal for swimming, walking, and surfing. Enjoy the well-equipped kiosks and wide stretch of sand. If you're feeling energetic, a walk from one end to the other and even a climb to the viewpoint on the right side are great options. In the evening, if you're looking to recharge your batteries for the next day, dinner at the hotel restaurant is a great option. Otherwise, a trip to Itaguá will provide excellent dining options.
Day 2 – Anchieta Island

Waking up early, you can enjoy Praia Grande again, but our goal today is Anchieta Island. Traditional schooner tours depart from Saco da Ribeira Pier at 11:00 a.m. They last about 5 hours and include a stop at Anchieta Island State Park, a visit to the historic prison ruins, and a stop at 7 Fontes Beach on the way back. In the evening, it's worth visiting the Itaguá neighborhood, with its many restaurants and shops. Just past Itaguá and before downtown Ubatuba, you'll find the Airport Shopping Mall with its playful illuminated Ferris Wheel—a must-see.
Day 3 – Discover nearby beaches
On your last day, when you only have the morning due to hotel check-out, it's a good idea to explore the nearby beaches. From Praia Grande, on the right side is the beautiful Praia das Toninhas (accessible on foot via the Praia Grande viewpoint or by car via the highway). From the left side, you can also visit two smaller beaches—Tenório and Vermelhinha—but leave early, as you'll be walking a lot. Tenório Beach is located within a gated community and has good infrastructure, including kiosks. Vermelhinha, on the other hand, is a steep beach with strong waves and is popular with surfers. If you're driving, be aware that parking is not available inside the Tenório community, and both there and Vermelhinha are on the street, with a designated Blue Zone.
Se você estiver fazendo o roteiro de mais dias, não tem problema. Conheça as Toninhas pela manhã e as outras praias à tarde. Você vai adorar.5-day itinerary in Ubatuba
Dias 1 a 3 – Siga o roteiro acimaDay 4 – Rio Bonito Village

In the morning, the Viver Guarani tour offers an immersion into the culture of the Mbyá indigenous people, with archery, stories, crafts, and traditional songs. The experience is guided by an indigenous host and concludes with a swim in a waterfall in the Atlantic Forest. Learn more here . Afterwards, lunch at one of the restaurants on the Itaguá waterfront followed by a visit to Projeto Tamar (which protects sea turtles) can be a great way to spend your afternoon.
Day 5 – Rest day?
You can reserve this last day to rest (after all, what is a hotel for?) or spend the morning in Praia Grande itself, before your return trip.
Mas caso seu roteiro seja de mais dias, vale conhecer as praias do sul:
A very famous area is Lázaro Beach . There, you can actually visit three beaches: in the center, Lázaro Beach itself. To its left (as you look out to sea), Sununga Beach , with very strong and dangerous waves on rough seas, is also home to the famous Gruta que Chora (Crying Cave) . To the right, Domingas Dias Beach —the opposite of Sununga, with very calm waters and almost no waves. Lázaro and Sununga have many kiosks, while Sununga is located within a gated community (accessible on foot) and lacks infrastructure.

Dias 1 a 5 – Siga o roteiro de 5 diasDay 6 – Prumirim Island
With your energy replenished, take a boat trip to the famous Prumirim Island . You can either depart on a schooner from the Itaguá waterfront, or you can drive to Prumirim Beach and from there hire a boat, which departs from the right-hand corner on the Prumirim River.
Have lunch right there - on Prumirim Island itself or on Prumirim Beach.
In the afternoon, upon your return, if you drove to Prumirim and have time, stop at the famous Itamambuca Beach. You can even have dinner there, at the condominium—there are great restaurants on the main avenue.
Day 7 – Relax at the hotel and enjoy the sauna or pool
Reserve your last day for relaxation. If you're staying at a hotel with a heated pool, sauna, or restaurant , take advantage of it.
Now you know what to do in Ubatuba. Remember: Ubatuba is a destination that can be explored in a few days or experienced at a leisurely pace over a week. With these itineraries, you'll have a complete experience, exploring beaches, islands, and indigenous culture.
