Bird Watching

Birdwatching has been attracting more and more enthusiasts, including from abroad. And Ubatuba has been receiving many tourists seeking this relaxing activity! People come with the pure and simple intention of seeing the birds up close, photographing them, witnessing their behavior, and listening to their songs...

There are Scarlet Tanagers, Blue-gray Tanagers, Hummingbirds, Blue-gray Tanagers, and even Guans! Here at Coquille, the presence of birds is constant. We can hear them all around us all the time. And then we understand how pleasant and beautiful it is to be in contact with all this nature of the Atlantic Forest of Ubatuba!

Hotel Trivia: You'll see several photos of birds taken right here at the hotel, in our reception area and at breakfast. Each of our apartments has, in addition to its number, a representation of a bird. Apartment 101 is the Little Anambe, and apartment 203 is the Blue-winged Tanager. Cool, right?

Learning a Little

In Brazil, approximately 1,870 bird species have been identified. Of these, 524 species have already been identified in the Ubatuba region. This is because Ubatuba presents different habitats (which are geographically different locations that harbor diverse species). Here you will find species from the slopes, mountains, and coastal plains – the preserved Atlantic Forest (which covers 86% of the municipality's area) is largely responsible for this variety – a preservation that exists thanks to the creation of the Serra do Mar State Park in 1977.
